  • "Active shooter" at Fort Hood

Authorities are responding to an “active shooter” incident with casualties at Ft. Hood, the scene of a 2009 attack that left 13 dead, the Bell County Sheriff’s Office says.

It was not immediately clear if there was one shooter or multiple suspects, and there was no immediate information on the extent of any injuries.

The sheriff's office dispatched deputies and troopers from the Texas Department of Public Safety to the nearby Texas Army base, Bell County Sheriff's Office Lt. Donnie Adams said.

The Department of Public Safety also confirmed there were casualties, but did not specify how many. A person on base with knowledge of the situation said two victims have been rushed to a local hospital.

KWTX out of Waco is reporting at least one dead.

NBC now reporting that there was only one shooter, who is the only KIA.

One person was dead and at least eight others were wounded — four of them seriously — in a shooting at Fort Hood, Texas, the same base where a military psychiatrist killed 13 people 4½ years ago, military officials told NBC News.

Military officials said that the shooter was "down" and appeared to be a lone gunman.

Four of the eight wounded were "very serious," according to the officials. It appeared the person who was dead was the gunman, they added.

But even as I'm typing this, the communications office (or whatever it's called) of Fort Hood is on FNC telling Greta that they cannot confirm this information at all. So, the usual reporting chaos.

Now up to four dead, fourteen wounded.

The narrative being crafted was that this was some argument that got out of hand. That makes about as much sense as a youtube movie causing a consulate to be burned to the ground.

This is just awful. If we can't protect our military bases on our own soil, what can we protect?

That's a false narrative. Of course we can protect our military bases, it's just very very inconvenient for those who go off and fight our wars if we do.

Yeah, I know. I just hate that these men and women are under attack at home and deployed. It sucks. I can not imagine the kind of burden they carry.

And yes, I am in favor of a draft.

                Latest "breaking news:"

Law enforcement sources told ABC News the firearm used by the assailant was a semi-automatic .45 caliber Smith & Wesson handgun. ATF is conducting an urgent trace of the gun, which is standard protocol in these types of incidents.

I neither know of, nor can I find any evidence of, a .45ACP magazine that holds over 14 rounds for any S&W handgun.

Which means that the shooter had to use at least two magazines.

                Over a "dispute."

Something else happened here, and the administration already knows what it is and has started the cover-up already.

I think it's a leap to call this an administration conspiracy at this point. If anything, it's a bureaucratic cover-up by the DoD idiots that have known about the problems at Ft. Hood for a long time. It's not called "The Hood" for nothing.

Well, I've only read about four article on it, but I haven't seen any instances of "argument that got out of hand." I'm seeing mostly "being checked for PTSD."
                    Enjoy.

Well, sort of. That's sort of like saying that Benghazi wasn't a cover-up because it was a colossal fuck-up by the CIA and the State Department. While the latter may technically be true, as we saw from today's testimony from Morrell (sp?), it was clearly a carefully-designed case of circular plausible deniability.

It's all over the news channels and the internet: it was a "soldier-upon-soldier attack," it was a "dispute among soldiers," etc. They're pushing in the PTSD meme now, but the original administration claim was undeniably that it was "not terrorism" and absolutely, without any doubt, a "dispute," not someone intent upon killing as many people as possible.

So, tell us all how a guy armed with a gun that can only get a magazine that can only shoot 14 rounds manages to get off at least 18 rounds does so in a "dispute."

Lax security, tolerance of social problems (white trash and thugs being excused for being white trash and thugs), too much bureaucracy with too little command discipline, gangs (!), and the base is just too big to manage. Ft. Hood is the inner city of the military. There are so many more family members than soldiers there that the Army has lost sight of why the base is there in the first place.
