  • Adrian Peterson’s 2-year-old son reported dead

The 2-year-old son of NFL star Adrian Peterson died Friday in a South Dakota hospital after he was allegedly beaten by a man dating the boy's mother, the Sioux Falls Argus Leader reported.

A release from the Sioux City police department said the toddler died "from injuries sustained during the aggravated assault Wednesday." It said it was witholding the child's name.

The police also said Joseph Robert Patterson had made a court appearance in the case and was being held on $750,000 cash bond.

Patterson, 27, was arrested Thursday night and is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated battery of an infant, TMZ reported. The arrest was made after police and paramedics were called to an apartment at 5:43 p.m. Wednesday and found the 2-year-old victim with injuries "consistent with abuse."

How terrible! No one should have to go through that.

    I didn't know this:
Peterson has a half-brother named Jaylon Brown who currently plays football at Klein Oak High School in Texas as its running back.[84] His dad nicknamed him "All Day". Peterson's brother Brian, older by one year, was killed by a drunk driver when Peterson was seven; another half-brother was murdered the night before Peterson participated in the NFL Combine.[85][86]

In an episode of E:60 titled "All Day", ESPN reporter Rachel Nichols states that Peterson has at least two children,[87] including a daughter named Adeja. [88] He currently resides in the Grogan's Point subdivision of The Woodlands, Texas, a suburb of Houston, Texas.

That's terrible - and predictable. How many little kids are damaged or killed by their mother's lover? A lot. Actual step-dads don't anywhere near the violence level of lovers when it come to small children today.

That is so sad, not just his son but his family in general. I hope he can eventually find some peace.
