Dry ice explosion at LAX: No injuries reported, FBI investigating

The FBI has taken over the investigation into a dry ice bomb that exploded in a men’s bathroom at Los Angeles International Airport on Sunday evening.

The explosion, which is created by filling a bottle with dry ice, occurred at about 7 p.m. in a restroom at Terminal 2, which is home to several international and domestic airlines.

Officials said an airport employee heard an explosion in a men's room and went to investigate. He discovered a 20-ounce plastic bottle that had contained the dry ice. The blast did no damage, and no injuries were reported

This is getting quite a bit more disturbing:

A second dry ice explosion was reported at Los Angeles International Airport Monday night, a day after a similar explosion occurred in an employee bathroom at the airport, authorities said.

Los Angeles Police Department Detective Gus Villanueva said no injuries were reported after the device exploded in a restricted area at the airport's Tom Bradley Terminal about 8:30 p.m. No flights were affected by the explosion.

Two other devices also were found at the airport but they did not explode, Detective Gus Villanueva said. A bomb squad was at the airport late Monday and investigators from the LAPD's criminal conspiracy division were assisting.

The bathroom was in an area of the terminal that isn't accessible to the public, according to FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller. She said there was "no stated threat associated with the incident."
