    Strokes over a stroke of genius

    Two strokes in one story.

    DeSantis sent 50 illegal immigrants to Martha's Vineyard, a sanctuary jurisdiction.
    Martha’s Vineyard has styled itself as a “sanctuary destination” that welcomes migrants — a position it took early in former President Donald Trump’s administration.

    One delightful clip I saw showed a spokesperson of some sort on the Vineyard explaining that "we don't have room for 50 immigrants." The PBS piece, to be fair, does say beds and meals were found and so on.

    DeSantis pointed out in a news conference that Florida is NOT a sanctuary state, and that he was happy to help immigrants travel to sanctuary jurisdictions elsewhere.

    Ol' Joe dutifully ranted in defense of his elitist friends.

    Concern about being "unAmerican" didn't stop the Biden administration from sending planes of illegal immigrants, unannounced in the dead of night to Westchester or Long Island.

    DeSantis has for at least a year suggested sending illegal immigrants to Delaware, but Delaware isn't a sanctuary state, I believe. But then again, neither is NY.

    So this has people howling left and right. The left howling in despair, comparing the voluntary passenger to victims of the Nazi Holocaust, the right howling in laughter.

    "This is not a parallel here in any way"...as he and Burns go on to make the case that DeSantis equals Hitler. Also, "the authoritarian play book"...another soundbite the left is using to gaslight. I mean, who are they kidding? They are nothing if not authoritarian with their regs, laws and wishlists.

    I'm disappointed in this interview. I was really looking forward to his special when I heard about it a while ago. Now, I'm skeptical that it's just another "shadow campaign" ad for democrats as the 2020 election was.

    Kind of a bummer to be away from "news" for a couple of weeks and then come back to the same ol', same ol' but then it's CNN so I feel a bit better.
    May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
    Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
    And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
    may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

      Burns has revealed his flaky side before. It's a shame, really.

      It reminds me of what my wife and friends call "on the brain, out the mouth" disease, usually when they talk about certain kids on the spectrum, as they say. Burns is an adult case. Having bought the illusion that conservatives are the terrorists, they can't block any shriek of horror and aspersion that pops into their blinkered noggin.

        As an aside, this is a good read on the rise of Hitler as told during the time of the first US Ambassador to Germany.

                    NBC News gutted after deleting tweet with quote comparing Martha's Vineyard migrants to ‘trash’ (msn.com)​

                    . . . [NBC] apparently realized that referring to migrants as "trash" was not a good look, at least for its Twitter account. NBC News deleted the tweet shortly after posting it on Friday. The news story however, featuring the quoting in its second paragraph, is still up on the website.

                    Prominent conservative Twitter accounts saved images of the tweet and flooded the platform with them. They condemned the outlet for the comparison.

                    Conservative journalist Jason Howerton was shocked that the outlet had composed the now-deleted tweet, writing, "Holy s---. Wow. Sometimes you really just want to shut up and let them talk."

                    Later he shared the screenshot of the post, tweeting, "LOL - @NBCNews deleted their post that compared migrants to ‘trash.’ Don't worry guys, I gotchu."

                    "Wonder why @NBCNews deleted this tweet," tweeted BlazeTV host Sara Gonzales sarcastically.

                    The Daily Wire reporter Ryan Saavedra tweeted, "NBC News just deleted this article on Twitter in which they compare migrants to ‘trash.’"
