    My brother once towed my car that way. The end result was similar.

      I've done it short distances but never at highway speeds. Turns were always problematic as well.

        The turn was the 1st problem. Making a left hand turn across route 1. The second problem was that apparently I needed to have the key in the ignition in order to operate the steering wheel. Who knew? The next problem was the downhill. Apparently you have you have your foot on the brake, not the clutch, in order to stop the car from ramming the other car. By the time we got home I think my brother's blood pressure was up 25 points.
