  • The Sad State of Gangland Marksmanship

So apparently there was a shootout in one of our buildings over the weekend. I just found out about it today as I was off work yesterday. I don't mean a drive-by, or somebody got pissed and busted a cap, I mean a shoot. out.

Apparently it all started when two of our female residents got into an argument (and who among us can honestly say that women aren't at the root of all problems, amiright, fellas?). Things got out of hand so they decided to call in their boyfriends. One happens to be a Crip, and one is a, yay!, Blood. Now these being your run-of-the-mill thugs, they couldn't settle things on their own, they had to call in their boys. Or boyz, I guess. I have no idea how many were at this shindig but the story is that somebody pulled a gat and went to work. Somebody else was also strapped, and naturally returned fire.

14 rounds were fired in a pretty small, enclosed area, I'm guessing maybe 15' by 20' with a stairwell going up and a stairwell going down. Of those 14 rounds expended, 3 hit the same target with none of the wounds being life threatening. Legs, I think. No other hits.

It would be a comical story except for the fact that the building has a lot of kids in it. It's a good thing one of them didn't get hit. Last year at another of our properties a baby wasn't so lucky and was killed in a drive-by, or a walk-by I guess as the shooters were on foot.

If only these guys would get some range time in....
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now
