  • Can you pass common core math in grade school?

    States like New York are teaching and testing a new set of standards for public schools, called Common Core, which may be adopted nationwide. Here's a sampling of NY state's 2013 questions released by EngageNY, which maintains the state's Board of Regents materials and resources.

    I got seven out of eight. Don't pick on me. I stink at geometry.

    I tried to take it but it's more interested in loading ads than in loading the questions. So fuck it.
    The year's at the spring
    And day's at the morn;
    Morning's at seven;
    The hill-side's dew-pearled;
    The lark's on the wing;
    The snail's on the thorn:
    God's in his heaven—
    All's right with the world!

      I couldn't see any questions...only answers.

        Yes but none of those questions were as poorly worded as others I've seen.
        "Alexa, slaughter the fatted calf."

          Congrats! You're ready to graduate
          You just scored a 8 out of 8
          I used what I already knew. The common core explanations of how the problems should of been calculated seemed like it would be more difficult.

            I have to admit that what I used was not what I learned in school for the most part.
            I was saying things in my head like "Add three, then an additional five" and so
            forth.

              I'm sorry that others had trouble. I clicked on the link, but I'm not
              sure what went wrong.
