That Bear on the left was probably 1,000 - 1,200 pounds. The Lion on the right might have been 500 pounds. Amazing their skull size is so close. As a descriptor, that Bear was moderately large but the Lion was a monster. If it pays, it stays

Tough question.
I'm actually slightly more inclined to go with the lion, only because lions are predatory and take down larger critters all the time, whereas bears typically won't go looking for a fight, but they'll damn sure put an end to one if you piss them off. I think a lion may have an edge here in fighting skills, in innately knowing how to take down a larger animal with a rapid kill. When lion meets bear, lion immediately goes for the jugular; bear isn't even looking for the kill at first, but when he's threatened, will start swatting with some pretty mean and nasty meat-hooks on his paws. I think that by the time bear realizes he's in trouble with lion, it's already too late. It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

Who cares, as long as the winner takes out a trophy hunter or two?"Since the historic ruling, the Lovings have become icons for equality. Mildred released a statement on the 40th anniversary of the ruling in 2007: 'I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, Black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)
