High-wind warning issued for Anchorage; 95 mph gusts forecast

    If it pays, it stays

Man this is a bad winter! Again today, we had a high in the upper 60's, low in the 40's at night. No rainy season this year to speak of. Barely a breeze out on the Bay. A little overcast early this morning but mostly sunny. I haven't had my winter coat out yet this year. HRH wore a strapless cocktail dress and a knit wrap to an outdoor New Year's Eve event in the City.
"Since the historic ruling, the Lovings have become icons for equality. Mildred released a statement on the 40th anniversary of the ruling in 2007: 'I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, Black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)

Looks like you're in for a few snow days. How far away is your mom's hospital?
May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

Yeah, so the one hospital is right between me and her (she's 30 minutes from me) and the other is closer to my sister (she's 40 minutes from her).

Keep fingers crossed that she doesn't need a trip out there in the next 2 days. Thursday I have to get her to the oncologist. Anything before that and I'm screwed.

I realize it's not easy in bad weather, but is she able to call an ambulance if necessary?

She's already in a hospital. Doctors will come to her.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

Sorry, no, she is out of the hospital. She can call an ambulance if necessary, although she probably will not. Very stubborn that way. It's a tricky situation because the hospital that she would usually go to I'd rather she not, as they are just not very good for anything complicated. She now officially has a doctor at the hospital I'd like her to go to in case of an emergency, but it's unclear if an ambulance would take her there. The last time she needed to go I simply drove out and took her there. It ended up being about a 2 hour trip from start to finish, between me going to the house, convincing her that she needed to go to the hospital, and then getting her there. It was precarious as the health care providers would have preferred she go by ambulance, but due to the uncertainty of where they would bring her, I chose to drive her myself and pray like crazy I wasn't making the wrong decision.

Are there any medical transport companies you can contact there? Check with a Hospice, they might know some. We had two we were prepared to use (didn't need them because Mom faded quickly) but they would come when we called and would take her where we wished.
