What would you use it for? Not knocking the idea but aside from posting deer/car collisions on You Tube, what's the point?

When cops decide to trample the Constitution.

Yesterday we spotlighted a story about a Florida family driving through Maryland and mysteriously being targeted for a police stop.  They were questioned about owning a gun, detained, searched, their car contents emptied – searched, and after approximately 90 minutes to 2 hours of detention during the search they were released. Obviously for the driver, John Filippidis, […]

I wish I could say that I was surprised. Nothing the police state does now surprises me.

If the guy had a dash cam, he'd probably be rotting in some Homeland Security detention facility for having broken some secret rule about filming the police.

What was the warning ticket for? Thinking "unmututal" thoughts?

The simplest and most user friendly would be the cheapest go-pro you can find and an external microphone (take apart a cheap PC headset for one).

Interesting article. Half my office has CCW's. We also go to/through Maryland a lot. Interesting.

Maryland cops aren't ones to trifle with. They also target out of staters (I got pulled over for speeding while the cop was driving in the opposite direction. As I recall, my rate of speed over the limit wasn't that high that it should have caused a cop to bang a U-y to go after me...).

Leave us not forget that the Maryland State Police were the origin (1980's) of the issue of "racial profiling" because they were pulling over cars with Florida plates and "suspicious" drivers.

It's also damn good evidence in the event of a crash that winds up with either a citation in court or someone claiming that they weren't at fault when they actually were. This is actually why so many Russians equip their cars with dash-cams: it does wonders for solving an insurance dispute when the video shows that other person crossing the line before the head-on collision.

I've actually considered doing the dash-cam thing for a while now.

When you get your dash cam, see if you can do this.
                    Enjoy.
