  • Labrador befriends toddler with Down syndrome, melts hearts

    Super cute video at link

In a video that is warming hearts worldwide, a playful Labrador retriever gradually wins over a toddler with Down syndrome to earn a hug from a boy who usually shies away from physical contact.

In a 4-minute YouTube video posted by the child's mother, who notes that her son's condition means he usually avoids contact, a toddler from Buenos Aires named Hernan initially keeps his distance from a golden Lab named Himalaya. The dog then gently reaches out a paw and nuzzles Hernan's leg playfully before licking his left hand.
I love watching this dog. You could tell the dog knew there was something "different" about the child just in the mannerisms, cautiousness and gentle (yet persistent) approach.

Another reason that I think that people that abuse animals should be shot, skinned alive and tossed into a fiery pit though not necessarily in that order.
    We are so fucked.

    Incredibly sweet.
May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

Dogs know. Cats just don't care.
      "Alexa, slaughter the fatted calf."

Labs are amazing. My buddy has a golden lab that he got certified as a therapy dog.

He goes around to hospitals and senior homes, and just lets the dog socialize with the patients and tenants.

He told me once that his dog got a reaction from a patient who had been catatonic for 2 weeks...
