    So far, not bad. Not spectacular, but not bad. What do y'all think?

    Is there a Paypal account where I can just credit you for watching for me? LOL! I never watch these things.

        I always watch these things. But I must say, my feeling that they were pretty good was shortlived.

        There's some kind of technopunk music being played during the athletes walk that is as annoying as all get out. In fact, almost as annoying as Matt Lauer's prattering.

        But, I still do like to see the athletes walk the stadium.

          I like Techno and it's huge in Europe still. I listen to a Russian Techno dance channel a lot a work.

          Do the athletes like to participate in these show events? I would think that they were pretty focused on their events at that point.

            Speaking on behalf of all the athletes, yes, yes they do!

            The athlete commentators all seem to say that they enjoy it. Those that have to compete the following day sometimes skip it, but generally it's that one moment in the games that they really can realize they are officially an "Olympic athlete" and apparently it's a lot of fun and kumbaya stuff.

              Wow. The fifth-grader has really incredible balance.
              It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
              In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
              Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers

                Well, good for them! The one thing I do like to see are those girls doing Rhythmic gymnastics in the summer games. I don't care what you think of the athletic prowess of ribbon waving - that stuff is mesmerizing.

                  Then you would like these opening ceremonies...they had Russian people in puffy white outfits standing on the floor doing the whiteman shuffle during the entry of the athletes. It was like watching a bunch of high school sophomores at their spring dance...they kinda know they should dance, but they don't really know how, so they just kept shuffling their feet and kind of moving their arms in time to it.

                    What the hell were the Olympic ambassadors (the goofs leading the athletes in the parade) wearing?
                    "Faith is nothing but a firm assent of the mind : which, if it be regulated, as is our duty, cannot be afforded to anything but upon good reason, and so cannot be opposite to it."

                      Plexiglass, apparently. And wrought iron.

                        I thought those were cigarette girls.
                        The year's at the spring
                        And day's at the morn;
                        Morning's at seven;
                        The hill-side's dew-pearled;
                        The lark's on the wing;
                        The snail's on the thorn:
                        God's in his heaven—
                        All's right with the world!

                          I read this thread out loud to Joyce, who is not having the best of nights. Thanks!! She was laughing by the end of Adam's post. My curiosity did force me to turn the TV on and lo and behold… Your descriptions were pretty accurate.

                          G-Snap - we are with you, we like techno

                          Adam - Plexi & Wrought ---- I'm with you on the Plexi but the Wrought seems more like high dollar Barbecue grill grate.

                          P - Girl ---- So right on the whitie dance troop.
