I never really had much interest in things like power lifting or olympic lifting. I've thrown some weights around but always as a supplemental weight training and not as an end all. Olympic lifts, thanks to Crossfit, I now have a new found respect for as far as technique and difficulty.
One of the women in our Box is now a nationally ranked power lifter after breaking three records for her age/weight/gender at the first meet she was talked into competing at by a local lifter who saw her doing squats at our Box.
I went to this meet to watch and cheer for Natalie. I witnessed this trio of lifts by Matt Baller and although I have little interest in doing this as a sport/hobby, it was amazing to see this much weight being moved.
