    UPDATE Post #15

    TV presenter Peaches Geldof, second daughter of musician Bob Geldof and Paula Yates, has died aged 25, leaving a husband and two sons.

    "We are beyond pain," said her father, confirming her death. "She was the wildest, funniest, cleverest, wittiest and the most bonkers of all of us."

    "What a beautiful child. How is this possible that we will not see her again? How is that bearable?"

    Police say the death is currently being treated as "unexplained and sudden".

    [....]

    Born in 1989, Peaches Honeyblossom Geldof embarked on a media career at the age of 15, when she began writing a column for Elle magazine.

    She left home at 16 and went on to contribute to the Telegraph and the Guardian, as well as TV shows including ITV2's OMG! with Peaches Geldof.

    She also worked as a model and, just last week, attended a launch for Tesco's F&F clothing range in London.

    The writer and presenter was married to musician Thomas Cohen, with whom she had two sons, Astala, one, and Phaedra, who will turn one on 24 April.
    Very sad.

    One's mind of course runs to drugs when it's someone this young and out in the public eye, but she doesn't exactly fit the "profile" for that: married (apparently happily), mother of two young children, no apparent history of drug use or generally going wild, none of that stuff. No apparent history of any depression or other such emotional issues, either. Makes one wonder what caused her obviously very premature death.

    Definitely sad, no matter what.

    Peaches was kind of a Miley Cyrus (without a stage and tour) for sometime before she toned it down over the past couple of years. All we tabloid readers had thought she'd hung up her thong and party ways. Maybe the earlier abuse did some unknown damage to her.

    Sad.

        Once again, a celebrity gets a headline and I have no idea who she is. Or Bob Geldof for that matter. I go through the check out line at Publix, and other than Brad and Aneglina (whom I only recognize when she's with Brad) I have no idea who those people are on the cover. Moreover, have you seen the prices of those magazines lately? No wonder people read them in line and then put them back.
        The year's at the spring
        And day's at the morn;
        Morning's at seven;
        The hill-side's dew-pearled;
        The lark's on the wing;
        The snail's on the thorn:
        God's in his heaven—
        All's right with the world!

          I read at least one paper tab every week and do others online. I also read Austen in my spare time. They're less different than you might think once you master dependent clauses.

            He's probably been involved in at least one or two things you're familiar with.

              You don't know Pink Floyd?

                  Curiouser and curiouser....

                  Coroner so far "inconclusive" on cause or death.

                  Here, here, and here.

                  By all accounts, she was a happy, outgoing, well-adjusted, well-rounded young mother. There were no obvious signs of any injury, no suicide note, no needle in her arm, no empty pill bottle next to the body, and presumably no indications of a break-in or struggle, though I haven't seen where the police have said that explicitly.

                  The coroner is saying up to several weeks on the tox screen, which I suspect is just cautionary. I don't know how they do it in the UK, but around here, they run a "preliminary" screen that takes just minutes, and will get the basics out of the way: alcohol, opiates, obvious poisons, etc. I can only assume that they do something similar in the UK, which would mean that unless the coroner is just holding back (which IS possible), then any of the most obvious causes of death probably have been ruled out.

                  And if that's the case, then what killed this otherwise apparently healthy young woman?

                      I own several Pink Floyd CD's but I couldn't tell you who is involved. I have chosen their song Coming Back To Life to be played if and when I die. I don't light candles and meditate on their birthdays.

                        Peaches had only been "well-adjusted" for a few years. Prior to that, she lived in the rich-kid fast lane and she stayed mostly in the passing lane.

                        Maybe she had some residual damage from all that and it caught up with her (some heart issue perhaps) or maybe she had a private dependency issue like molly or something.

                        Or maybe she just popped off due an aneurysm.

                          Other than Dark Side of the Moon, I couldn't name one Pink Floyd song. I knew Bob Geldof was involved in some sort of Live Aid type show, but would not have been able to name it (Band-Aid) to win Who wants to be a Millionaire. I sure as hell didn't know that there was an actual "Pink" to Pink Floyd or that Bob Geldoff was him/her/it.

                            I was gonna let this slide, but I hit my breaking point.

                            Okay, first off, there was no actual person who went by the name Pink Floyd in the band Pink Floyd. In the song Welcome to the Machine, the recording company slickster who is trying to sign the band says, "The band is just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh, by the way, which one's Pink?" That is meant to convey how clueless the guy is about the band.

                            Also, Bob Geldof was never in the band Pink Floyd. His connection to Pink Floyd is this: when The Wall was made into a motion picture, he played the fictional lead character, Pink Floyd. He actually fronted the band The Boomtown Rats. He was involved in Live Aid. More than involved, really. He started the ball rolling in 1984, when Ethiopia was in famine. He and Midge Ure organized the recording of "Do They Know It's Christmas" under the name Band Aid, and followed up with the Live Aid concert in London and Philadelphia.
                            Enjoy.
