    Brutal hike - thank you Joyce

    So this was supposed to be 1.5 miles to a lake. Hell, we are waiting for a new motor for our Ram since we managed to destroy the last. Meanwhile, let's go explore the Ruby Mountains outside Elko, Nevada where we are staying in the Bigfoot in a campground next to the diesel shop.

    Joyce said this hike was 1.5 miles. Turned out to be 5+ miles climbing to above 10,000 feet.

    If you look at KINI's antenna and follow it to the top then look left, that is the saddle we climbed through to get to the lake.

      We removed the bigfoot camper from the pickup and are living in it at a campground next to the diesel shop. Not ideal, but doable. We are low maintenance as you know.

            OK, the hilarious part of this is that we read about a very rare bird released into these mountains called the Himalayan Snowcock. They are from Pakistan. We have many friends in the hunting community as you know and one has a passion for traveling all over the world hunting waterfowl and upland birds. This is a passion for many people but no where near the obsession it is for this gentleman. He is friends with Joyce on facebook, though we have never met. We are "friends" from the hunting community where Joyce became well known during her cancer battle.

            He saw our post on facebook with pictures of the lake we hiked into and responded that he was fortunate enough to hunt a Himalayan Snowcock there. He said it was one of the hardest hunts of his life. We told him he obviously has never hunted Rat Bastard Bison in Delta Junction Alaska for 17days in November/December.
