  • How much is NBC being paid by Russia to air propaganda?

    Just saw this on TV:

"If you're only going to give the Olympics to fully developed democratic countries, that's a path that's going to leave out a lot of the world. It may be that by giving the Olympics to nations like China and Russia you're helping them move forward in a positive direction. That's an argument that you could make."

--David Remnick, Pulitzer Prize winner and Editor of the New Yorker

    WHAT. A. CROCK.

Normalizing oppressive regimes and highlighting all the "good" that is done is absolutely counterproductive.

"Faith is nothing but a firm assent of the mind : which, if it be regulated, as is our duty, cannot be afforded to anything but upon good reason, and so cannot be opposite to it."

My guess is that they're doing it gratis. These are people who wept tears of sorrow at the collapse of the Soviet Union, after all.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

The level of obsequious spin is a new low.

Well, this liberal has been boycotting the whole thing. It's not just because they're against gay rights. I generally see their government as having been against human rights for over one hundred years (no matter what type of government they have). They never have apology for how they treat people. I just want no part of the Olympics this year.

It's been a lot more than 100 years. Nicholas II didn't exactly have an enviable human rights record, nor did pretty much any of his predecessors.
