    "Iron Erna" deporting criminal immigrants from Norway in record numbers

    From Eric Dondero:

    Let the record show, we here at LR were Pro-Erna long before being an Erna-ite was cool.

    From TheLocal, "Record number of foreigners deported":
    Conservative Party leader Erna Solberg – nicknamed “Iron Erna” – as Norway’s new prime minister is the leader of a centre-right coalition government that includes an an anti-immigration party.
    A record number of foreign citizens are being deported from Norway, after the country’s police stepped up the use of deportation as a way of fighting crime. Some 5,198 foreign citizens were expelled from the country in 2013, an increase of 31 percent since 2012, when 3,958 people were deported. “It is the highest number we’ve had ever,” Frode Forfang, head of the Directorate of Immigration (UDI), told NRK. “We believe that one reason for the increase is that the police have become more conscious of using deportation as a tool to fight crime.”
    Nigerian citizens topped the list of those expelled for committing crimes, with 232 citizens expelled as a punishment in 2013, followed by Afghan citizens with 136 expelled as a punishment, and 76 Moroccans expelled as a punishment. Afghan citizens topped the list of those expelled for violating the Immigration Act, with 380 expelled for this reason, followed by Iraqi citizens, 234 were expelled for violating the act.
    The year's at the spring
    And day's at the morn;
    Morning's at seven;
    The hill-side's dew-pearled;
    The lark's on the wing;
    The snail's on the thorn:
    God's in his heaven—
    All's right with the world!

    I'm wondering if that means simply that they were in the country illegally, or if there's something else involved.

      Things are changing in all the Nordic countries but it's way too soon to analyze the changes one way or the other. Ethnic Norsk are becoming aware and appalled at the results of their social experiment with diversity. Younger people are openly questioning why their cultural values are being made subordinate to immigrant values.

      The older generations are having a real crisis of conscious about this. On the one hand, they are a very socially conscious group; on the other hand, they never expected the experiment to produce such bad fruit. There's some cognitive dissonance happening that is sort of unprecedented.

        So far as I can tell, this is the act in question.

        Much of it is boilerplate legal mumbo-jumbo defining who may come to Norway and for how long and under what circumstances. It would seem that the relevant parts are in Chapter 8. I would hazard a guess that many of those expelled mentioned above fell under these three clauses:
        (a) when the foreign national has grossly or repeatedly breached one or more provisions of this Act, wilfully or through gross negligence has provided materially false or manifestly misleading information in a case coming under the Act, or evades the implementation of an administrative decision requiring him or her to leave the realm,

        (b) when the foreign national less than five years previously while abroad has served or received a penalty for an offence which under Norwegian law is punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding three months. The same shall apply where a special sanction has been imposed as a result of a criminal offence as mentioned,

        (c) when the foreign national has while in the realm received a penalty or special sanction for an offence which is punishable by imprisonment for a term exceeding three months, or has on several occasions in the course of the last three years received prison sentences,

          Diversity is great for Progressives until it means their own backyard.

            I think diversity is great, not only in my back yard but in my living room. HRH and her current circle of friends look like a walking United Colors of Benetton poster. I won't post the actual names for the sake of their privacy and hers, but the readily identifiable ethnicities are Polish, Arab, Chinese, Phillipine, assorted South American (including HRH, who is half Latina and half Celt/Anglo), and Cambodian, in addition to white and black American. Several are a combination of 2 or more of the foregoing.

            What they share, among other things, is a complete lack of interest in imposing their ancestral superstitions and/or foreign legal systems on each other or anyone else.

            Take the whole Muslim thing out of the question. Does anyone have a problem with Italian-Americans? Does anyone think it would be ok for Italian-Americans to try to impose Italian law on their adopted country?

            How about immigrants from Singapore? We may joke that we could use a law that provides for caning, but we don't really think it would be OK for someone to try to force Singapore social, cultural and legal values in Orlando, do we?

            People want to come to a country, retain their culture (at least the parts that don't actually violate the host country's laws), celebrate their heritage? Great! But we don't put up with Hmong kidnapping women they want as brides and we don't allow "honor killings." And while I think our immigration laws could use some serious revision, no country should have to keep violent criminal immigrants.

            Now are you going to pull the "not a real Progressive" bit on me?

Mildred released a statement on the 40th anniversary of the ruling in 2007: 'I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, Black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)

              I'll say that you would not be surprised to see the diversity at my house when we have parties but only because you've gotten to know me a little. I don't doubt your political goals and I don't doubt your honesty, but you are definitely not like most Progressives I know.

                In our nation this pretty much sums it up:
