  • HGTV Pulls New Home-Flipping Series After Report Emerges Identifying Its Stars As Ant

After the group Right Wing Watch reported the twins who star in HGTV’s recently greenlit reality series Flip It Forward are anti-gay activists, the network said this morning it had given the hook to the series, which was set to debut in October. Yesterday, HGTV said it was “currently in the process of reviewing all information about the Benhams and we will provide an update as soon as possible.” Then came a tweet today:

Right Wing Watch reported Tuesday that David Benham had led a prayer rally outside of the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte, NC in 2012, in which he told conservative radio host Janet Mefferd that America’s Christian majority must repent for tolerating “homosexuality and its agenda that is attacking the nation” and “demonic ideologies tak[ing] our universities and our public school systems.” He also said his brother had joined him in the prayer protest. The group also claimed David leads protests outside of abortion clinics.

People are now pre-emptively scared of the gay mafia.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

“After a decade of flipping houses for profit, brothers David Benham and Jason Benham now help families buy the homes they never thought they could afford. In each episode, the guys help a deserving family find a fixer-upper and transform it into their forever home — with a healthy dose of sibling rivalry between the brothers along the way.”

It would be a better show if they helped an undeserving family. That's entertainment!

Putting a gay basher on GHTV would be like putting the David Duke Show on BET.

I don't think that's the case here, it's simply adjusting to the market. Putting these two on HGTV would be the same as putting the Queer Eye for the Straight guy crew on CBN.

What is HGTV? Haute Gay television?
"Since the historic ruling, the Lovings have become icons for equality. Mildred released a statement on the 40th anniversary of the ruling in 2007: 'I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, Black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)

Worse. It's largely dumbed down interior decorating, gardening, and home renovation. It's like a slightly less mindless cooking channel. To give you a clue, when D and J aren't watching Entertainment Tonight or Big Brother (shirtless closeted gay men dealing with bitches from the highrises) , they are watching HGTV.

HGTV. It really started off as a whole channel dedicated to home-improvement stuff, as well as ogling at really palatial homes on TV. Tips on planting flower beds, how-to stuff on putting up wallpaper or replacing your bathroom sink, that sort of stuff. It was pretty interesting stuff if you were a young homeowner who wanted to have some neat ideas for sprucing up your house and that sort of thing.

They also had a few "human interest"-type shows that wound up growing much more quickly and overtaking the network. So, what you have now, largely, is the "Here Comes Honey Boo Boo" of house-flipping programs across an entire network.

Man, I KNOW I don't want to know what THAT is. Jeebus. I'm really glad we only turn the TV on for the Macy's Parade and the occasional movie. The rest of it sounds like instant senility.

With a huge sponsorship from Home Depot back when it wasn't well-known that 90% of lesbian couples shopped at Home Depot.

I know you're big in "the cause" but you're quite out of touch with most people that are lesbians. It's not the 1960s anymore and there are more lesbian rednecks than you could ever fathom.

What's chilling about this decision is that the network is dropping them for having an alternative opinion on gayness and abortion as well as for exercising free speech. The show wasn't about these issues - they were private matters - but that didn't matter.

To me this looks the same as blasphemy laws except the principle is operating above the law. It's a very selective interpretation. Or it is at this point. Eventually it will get around to members of the left who aren't sufficiently correct in the thoughts of whatever.

It will be too late at that point.

First they came for the anti-semites and I said nothing because I wasn't an anti-semite.
Then they came for the blondists and I said, "Really? We have those?"
                            Enjoy.

One of our big surprises in moving to St Pete was Lesbians with big hair, nails, and sweaters with a clasp. I just never considered that the grocery cashier at Giant Food in Virginia might be a Lesbian. Prejudice in the purest form.
