  • Boston crime boss Whitey Bulger sentenced to life

BOSTON (AP) — Former Boston crime boss James "Whitey" Bulger was led off to prison Thursday for the rest of his life, accepting his punishment in stone-faced silence as a judge castigated the 84-year-old gangster for his "almost unfathomable" depravity.

Bulger's sentencing for his murderous reign in the 1970s and '80s brought to a close a sordid case that exposed FBI complicity in his crimes and left a trail of devastated families whose loved ones were killed by Bulger or his henchmen.

Many of the relatives had vented their anger at Bulger during the first day of his sentencing hearing on Wednesday, calling him a "terrorist," a "punk" and "Satan."

I thought this guy was sentenced like eighteen months ago. I've been seeing all this news about this guy lately and just about it because I thought this was already a done deal.

Meh. Whatever. Another crime boss gets thrown under the jail. Fine by me. Hopefully they're smart enough to monitor every single communication he ever has from now until whenever he croaks, which probably won't be long.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

I wish we could get more convictions for organized crime.
