    So...who's getting winter weather?

    Frosty, you don't really count.

    So far, we've gotten about an 1/8" ice, covered with not quite an inch of sleet.

    Our forecast for today:
    Periods of mixed winter precipitation. High 26F. Winds N at 10 to 20 mph. Snow and ice accumulating 3 to 5 inches.

    I didn't even bother setting an alarm to get up for work this morning. I knew I wouldn't be able to make it off my street. The county announced the schools would be closed last night.

      Not us!! They closed the schools yesterday because the temps went up. That resulted in freezing rain and the roads were ice skating rinks.

            freezing rain then sleet yesterday..
            snow last night
            snow now...

            about 2" or so where I am, but south of me at 7:30 am, 6" on the ground with 5 more to come...

            my daughter, about 50 miles north got nothing as of this morning...

            Bright spot...

            pulled into the house about 15 min ago, and my new neighbor had shoveled my driveway and walk...
            Robert Francis O'Rourke, Democrat, White guy, spent ~78 million to defeat, Ted Cruz, Republican immigrant Dark guy …
            and lost …
            But the Republicans are racist.

              Well, people are real excited to think that it might get above freezing next Tuesday!

              It's about 3 degrees above zero at the moment down from 5 degrees above as a high. This has been going on for days. It's been snowing. Our nights have been really cold. Way below zero cold.

                We wound up with almost 2 inches of snow on top of the sleet -- a much better outcome than what was forecast: 1/2" of ice from freezing rain, then 2-4 inches of snow.

                          But that's one of the things I like about Kentucky...we have four distinct seasons, all about the same length. Didn't get that in Alaska or South Carolina -- and DAMN sure didn't get it in Oman.

                            We have 4 seasons in Florida:

                            Snowbirds leave
                            Furnace
                            Snowbirds come back

                              We're up to 22 but should have a high of 29 with a low of 15. Just started snowing about an hour ago..we're getting the storm that's coming from OR and CA. It's supposed to dump snow on and off until tomorrow evening.
                              May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
                              Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
                              And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
                              may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.
