Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was in fine Baghdad Bob style on Sunday’s “Meet the Press,†telling host David Gregory a series of whoppers with poker-face aplomb.
Besides claiming there was no political motive behind the Obama administration’s Good Friday announcement that there will be yet more delay on the Keystone XL pipeline decision, Wasserman Schultz declared Democrat candidates are in fine shape heading into the fall elections and that the elections won’t be a referendum on President Obama anyway.
Faced with a scathing statement from Democrat Sen. Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, calling the Keystone delay “irresponsible, unnecessary and unacceptable,†Wasserman Schultz, a Florida Democrat, responded basically that Landrieu should stick to worrying about her own state and let the adults in the White House handle the “complex†issues.
The important thing, Wasserman Schultz said, is that President Obama doesn’t “factor politics into his decision, which I don’t believe he is.â€
