  • I guess I picked the wrong weekend to unplug

I needed some time away from the internet, and it was a gorgeous weekend, so I unplugged for about 48 hours. Definitely a good thing to do once in a while, but I missed some good ones.

It turns out that Piers Morgan is finally going the way of the dodo. I'm quite surprised that CNN kept him around even this long. Apparently, they have just realized that the vastly overwhelming majority of Americans do not really want some lying, cowardly Limey with a stick up his ass telling them what terrible people they are for not being British. Good job, guys. Way to have the finger on the pulse there.

Then, it seems that Alec Baldwin managed to do a spectacular triple-retard off the high platform, claiming that he's retreating from public life while shouting "Trannies! Trannies everywhere!" as they drag him off the stage. Of course, I'm still waiting for him to leave the country because Bush was elected, so I rather doubt that this is the last we've seen of him.

Must have been quite a weekend.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

The heart, the arteries of the country are now clogged with hate. The fuel of American political life is hatred. Who would ever dream that Obama would deserve to be treated the way he has been? The birth-certificate bullshit, which is just Obama’s version of Swiftboating. And all for the electoral nullification that seems like a cancer on the American system. But this is Roger Ailes. And Fox. And Breitbart. And this is all about hate. It’s Hate Incorporated. But the liberals have taken the bait and run in the same direction—and it’s just as corrosive. MSNBC, in its own way, is as full of shit, as redundant and as superfluous, as Fox.

And all it took was your lynching to make you realize it, Alec.
“Thus it is that no cruelty whatsoever passes by without impact. Thus it is that we always pay dearly for chasing after what is cheap.”

~ Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Gulag Archipelago 1918–1956

LOL! I read Baldwin's Retort (or whatever capitalized literary category he's assigned this missive).

What was completely amusing was his utter shock that he'd been swimming in an intolerant, vindictive cesspool full of morally outraged sharks (himself included) but he never noticed this until the sharks started biting him.

      "Alexa, slaughter the fatted calf."

I'm sorry, but I just can't help but giggle uncontrollably...
