    Obamacare imperils some local medical programs for poor

    "GAINESVILLE, Fla. Jennifer Webb works the deli counter at Publix supermarket and has thyroid problems. Her boyfriend, William May, is an artist recovering from colon cancer.

    The couple has relied on a county program that provides health coverage to the working poor. But their “security blanket,” as Webb calls the Alachua County CHOICES program, is being taken away at the end of December. As new coverage provisions take effect Jan. 1 under the Affordable Care Act, the new health care law, local programs that offered barebones care to the uninsured are in flux – and with them, the lives of thousands who depend on them."

    It must be Florida's fault. After all, the state was taking care of things just fine for this person until a federal law was passed to change it - unconstitutionally.

      One of them falls into the Republican state Medicaid I-Hate-Obama hole and the other fears the insurance will cost more even with subsidies.

        You folks on the left should stop with the assumption that people on the right only object to big government programs out of spite. That's projection, not reality. Many (most) of us object to big government programs because we don't think they work.

        Take a look at a few websites built for much much less than $300 Million.

          Seriously? You really want the litany of so-called big government programs people on the right supported prior to January of 2009?
