  • Gender Identity in the Classroom Canada Style

Rep. Andy Josephson’s HB 17 would protect gender expression, like what a shop teacher expresses in Canada

At first glance, a reader would be forgiven for thinking it’s a hoax: A photo of a teacher in Oakville, Ontario, Canada, who appears to be wearing large water balloons with massive nipples under his sheer shirt, has gone viral on social media. At last count, the video of him sawing a wooden board in a classroom has been seen over 750,000 times.

The Oakville Trafalgar High School teacher wears large prosthetic breasts with nipples so massive they appear to be a hazard in shop class, where he demonstrates the use of a chop saw perilously close to the fake nipples.

I think he was born male, but now identifies as a fuckwad, and goes by the pronouns shithead/dumbass.

And once again cowardly braindead administration goes along with it. It's interesting that his attire violates the student dress code, as well as common sense.

My first thought was if there was an excessively breast endowed female cisgender teacher who wore shear clothing and no bra in a chilly room that the administration would be pursuing a change.

Apparently s/he identifies as deformed. That presentation is disgusting, regardless of natal sex or "gender expression." And people will use this grossly inappropriate behavior to justify harassing people who are just quietly and professionally attired as whatever they feel themselves to be.

I've been saying it forever - progressives are terrible.

But the answer is NOT to let these grotesque aberrations stand.

My complaint is with the absolutely braindead administration. I don't believe this fellow should be teaching a a classroom, but the cowardly behavior of the administration is appalling.

Just enforce the students' dress code on the staff. That would do it. (And back when I worked as a teacher, just after clothes were invented, the administration would indeed address teachers and staff who dressed unprofessionally.)

How would that work? This guy could double his breast size, and no dress code will cover that.

Adults must lead by example. A student dress code that is not enforced on faculty and staff as well is both unfair and hypocritical, and sends entirely the wrong message to students.

The minimum that should be acceptable attire for teachers is "business casual." No t-shirts, shorts, tank tops, low-cut blouses, sheer anything, visible underwear, miniskirts, butt pants, cocktail dresses, pajamas, swimsuits, Pokemon costumes...and seriously, people, anyone over 10 should not be out in public in leggings with a fitted top. Leggings with a dress-length tunic or sweater MIGHT be marginally acceptable in some public contests, but teaching high-school boys probably isn't one of them.

When I was a HS sophomore, the executives (principal, vice principals - and why do they need more than one of those anyway?) wore business suits, and teachers wore dress pants/dress shirt with or without a tie and usually no jacket, or dresses or skirts and non-sheer blouses or non-form-hugging sweaters. By my senior year, we had at least one overage wannabe flower child who wore jeans, dashikis or flowy tunics, and - no joke - a flower headband. We all thought she was ridiculous. After all, only a year before had we girls held a sit-in until they agreed to allow us to wear pants instead of skirts or dresses every day!

Dressing appropriately should not even be an issue with teachers. How do the schools expect to graduate young adults prepared to navigate the business world if they can't even require their teachers to act like adults?

For starters, students can't let their nipples show through. That I've read, but most student dress codes include prohibitions against distracting clothes, so to cover imaginative fashions without having to itemize them and update the code monthly.

This guy's boobs are prosthetics, just a costume. That is, they are part of his clothing, and can come off before he comes to work.

But frankly, I think an adult with such poor judgment as he is showing should not be in the classroom. Regardless of his expertise with a band saw, I don't trust him to handle extraneous situations maturely.

While I agree, it might be tough to enforce a dress code against him.

Joys of being an old fart.

I had dress codes all the way through public school.

                          Guys -
No jeans or shorts - dress or casual slacks worn at waist level or higher.
No t-shirts or sweatshirts - collared only, must have buttons and only the top button allowed open. Dress or casual shirts must be tucked in. Exception for pullover or dress sweaters but a shirt must be worn underneath.
No slogans, patches other than a small makers patch (think Izod alligator)
No gym, or tennis shoes, or slippers - dress or casual only.

                          Girls -
No jeans, shorts, culottes, or dresses / skirts more than an inch or two above the knee.
Dress or casual slacks allowed worn at waist level or higher.
No t-shirts, tank tops, sleeveless or sheer see-through blouses, tucked in if designed to be.
Sleeved pullover sweaters allowed but not tight form fitting.
No gym, or tennis shoes, or slippers - dress or casual only.
                          No hair rollers.

In high school about twice a year they would have a blue jeans Friday but you had to buy a ticket or pass because it was a fundraiser for some school function like glee club or band ot the athletic department. The other exception was Homecoming Friday where the rules were moderately relaxed.
                          We are so fucked.

It's IMPOSSIBLE for these dickless administrators. And I mean "dickless" in the meanest most disparaging way available.

All it really takes is for an administrators with character and fortitude to stand up for the education of his or her (actually I should properly use the pronouns it/its) charges, the students. If it's the judgment of more sensible administrators that modest attire is necessary for the kids, it shouuldn't be hard to say that applies to the full-grown people in the classroom as well.

Celeste's logic on the subject is impeccable. If there's some conflict between the interests of the students and the letter of some regulation, Thou Shall Not Interfere With Anything Weird Done Under The Banner of LGBQ+, perhaps, then courage requires resolving the conflict in favor of the minors involved.

That's what should be expected of those charged with supervising the adults, i.e., the administrators. If they can't do it, they should quite or be fired.

They should go live in some wussy country like Canada. Oh, wait....

And, it should be obvious, there was no dress code for teachers and staff because it was assumed they had enough sense to dress appropriately. To this boob and his administrators that's a "loophole," but you really cannot run a free society in which every possible behavior has to be articulated and legally sanctioned or proscribed.
