  • Nope. No need for voter ID. None whatsoever.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted announced Wednesday that his office found 17 non-citizens illegally cast ballots in the 2012 presidential election -- and has referred the case for possible prosecution.

The alleged crime would be a notable case of voter fraud in a key swing state. By law, only American citizens are allowed the privilege of casting ballots for the nation's leaders.

Ohio officials say that did not stop some from getting around the system.

"I have a responsibility to uphold election law, and under both federal and state law you must be a citizen to vote," said Husted, a Republican who has aggressively tried to investigate voter fraud cases in his state.

Husted also found that 274 non-citizens remain on the voting rolls.
This will now predictably be dismissed as "insignificant."

It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now

President Obama beat Mitt Romney in Ohio by just 2 percentage points in November 2012.

    That was awesome.

Yea. Predicting what is is pretty easy to do.

I don't find it the least bit insignificant.

Yea. I'm sure. It's like those people who demand zero benzene in the air.

The folks behind the fraud, like those that are trying to stop it, aren't doing so because they want to alter the results of national elections.

A few votes either way in a council race (even in large cities) could mean the difference. That's why it's very significant.

                  The folks behind the fraud?

A bit too tin foil for me. And as far as local races and chicanery, you are more likely to see someone selling blocks of votes affecting the outcome than a couple of non-citizens hitting the polls.

Yes, out of over 5 million votes cast, 17 is insignificant. And to even hold them up as some sort of proof that more barriers to voting are needed is embarrassing.

JB is right..it's the local elections that get screwed over. I've seen elections here that were swung by 11 votes.

It was 17 in the entire state that had voted in the presidential election. Now, it could be they are all in one precinct, but I doubt it.

What would be more interesting to me is how many dead people on the active rolls voted. The fact that a number wasn't mentioned leads me to believe it was less than 17.

What color is the sky in your world BJ? I've seen 27 Democrats registered in a two bedroom row home. I've seen people approach the table and not know how to spell their name or what their address is. Take off the glasses.

                        It's far beyond that.
