    Ted Cruz: ‘Dismayed’ by A&E

Sen. Ted Cruz called the suspension of “Duck Dynasty” star Phil Robertson “deeply” dismaying to people who believe in freedom.

The Texas Republican weighed in Thursday on the ongoing controversy over comments made by Robertson in a recent interview that resulted in his suspension from the A&E show.

“If you believe in free speech or religious liberty, you should be deeply dismayed over the treatment of Phil Robertson,” Cruz wrote on his Facebook page. “Phil expressed his personal views and his own religious faith; for that, he was suspended from his job. In a free society, anyone is free to disagree with him—but the mainstream media should not behave as the thought police censoring the views with which they disagree.”

Cruz is wrong but so are you.

Don't know. Is that germane to this? "In a free society, anyone is free to disagree with him—but the mainstream media should not behave as the thought police censoring the views with which they disagree.”

Cruz is a huckster selling snake oil to the rubes. He isn't wrong; he is full of shit.

But what am I wrong about?

You are incorrectly equating the Dixie Chicks with Phil.

I'm not sure about your hatred for Cruz, but I think you just don't like Mexicans that get too uppity. It's a common sentiment in Texas.

Especially when those Mexicans are Cuban.

Maybe Ted should organize an "appreciation day" like they did for Chik-Fil-A. People could line up all over the country to buy duck calls.

Note to scott: that doesn't mean I'm "equating" duck calls with chicken sandwiches. Blowing through a chicken sandwich is not attractive to ducks.
                  Enjoy.

How can you be so sure?

One Million (or a couple of dozen anyhow) Moms would disagree.

One Million Moms, the organization that attacked JC Penny for hiring openly gay Ellen DeGeneres as a spokesperson, is turning its attention to NBC's new series The New Normal. From Ryan Murphy, the series follows a gay couple — Book of Mormon's Andrew Rannells and The Hangover's Justin Bartha — who try to start a family with the help of a surrogate (Georgia King).

On their website, One Million Moms accused NBC of "using public airwaves to continue to subject families to the decay of morals and values, and the sanctity of marriage in attempting to redefine marriage. These things are harmful to our society, and this program is damaging to our culture."

The organization is calling on sponsors to boycott the program. "It is proven this strategy works!" their statement continues. "It was not too long ago that NBC announced The Playboy Club was canceled after only three episodes because of lack of advertisers!

It was worth the time I wasted reading this thread to arrive at this post. Well played!

Mildred released a statement on the 40th anniversary of the ruling in 2007: 'I am proud that Richard’s and my name is on a court case that can help reinforce the love, the commitment, the fairness, and the family that so many people, Black or white, young or old, gay or straight, seek in life. I support the freedom to marry for all. That’s what Loving, and loving, are all about.'." - Mildred Loving (Loving v. Virginia)
