I'm going to sub this off of tech data, because there are still lots of technical details about photography that it would be good to be able to discuss technique there. Granted, we've all but left the day of holding up a strontium light meter next to the subject and then adjusted things like the shutter speed, aperture, and f-stop accordingly, but how people get certain pictures is still a very interesting topic.

I'll send the Alaska thread there to inaugurate the forum.

That light meter has been replaced with the expertise of post production image enhancement. I resisted like computer tricks taking the place of great martial artist's talents in movie but it's the reality of "photography" as we know it today. I would love to learn more from those NEIPsters that are photoshop whores.

Not sure that Alaska thread doesn't really belong in travel. The overall photography is not that great. It's the content. It's all Alaskan.
