    error message

    on the ecuador thread...my last post

    Internal Server Error

    The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
    Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
    More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
    Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    It made the post, but since it directed me to report the error, consider it reported and your problem now.

    Hmmm...


    A 404 is usually just a minor connection hiccup. I'll take a look at the logs, but I'm quite certain I did not install that Obamacare hack.


    Probably nothing, but definitely let me know if it starts happening with any regularity.

              404 means missing file and that doesn't happen on hiccups. Hiccups are 500 and 503 errors.

              There's a bug somewhere in the plugins and a file handler is missing.

                  Hmmmm...

                  OK. Every time I've gotten 404s (here or elsewhere), I can just do a page re-load and 99% of the time that has taken care of it.

                  No record of PG hitting a 404 in the server logs, but it only holds the last 300 entries, which means that all of the spiders trying to find threads that don't exist any more have pushed anything more than about fifteen minutes old off the page.



                  Note to self: install that bot-blocker hack.


                  Not sure what else to do other than watch for it to happen again in hopes of isolating it.

                    Also, I think you're confusing a browser "page not found" with a "404 server error page not found."

                    If the browser displays an error, it is a hiccup. If it looks like what you get here:

                    ** Not Found **
                    http://notpolitical.info/thispagedoesntexist.htm


                    it means the file on the server doesn't exist.

                    While testing that link, I have some investigating to do because there is a missing handler. I'll let you know.

                          Ah ha. Yes, indeed you are correct. I didn't know that there was a substantive difference between the two.
