  • Where am I and where are my shorts?

Bok sent me here, or was it Lanie? They slipped something in my drink and the next thing I know JB was telling me to get out of the car. The last thing I remember was Bok and JB arguing over baseball and Lanie started saying the Hail Mary. The whole adventure made the movie Hangover look like a fairy tale.

Some of you already know me, others don't. I've been lurking for a while and found the conversation interesting and mind stimulating. I signed up here as I am still trying to end up with at least 100 Facebook friends by years end, I only have 72 more to go.

I'm a Nevada resident after spending all of my life living in Illinois. There is plenty to do in Las Vegas but most times I would rather just stay home. I live in a bedroom community a few miles from the big sin. It's quiet here, not many laws and the town is unincorporated. Less bureaucrats and layers of government. In fact at the end of this year we will no longer have a town board, it will all be up to Nye County to make the rules, yes the same Nye County that is the home to the Bundy ranch. This is the wild west.

It took a while to get used to seeing people carrying guns inside grocery stores and banks, open carry.

That's my story, ask me anything.

If the dealer is showing a face card, should I hit or stay on 16?

I was gone two weeks that day.

Do you know anything about the musical Jersey Boys, as in, have you seen it?
May we raise children who love the unloved things - the dandelion, the worm, the spiderlings.
Children who sense the rose needs the thorn and run into rainswept days the same way they turn towards the sun...
And when they're grown and someone has to speak for those who have no voice,
may they draw upon that wilder bond, those days of tending tender things and be the one.

No. I have heard good things about it and it's the #1 rated show right now. I've seen a few shows. There is a subscription that locals can purchase to fill up last minute empty seats. Barry Manilow was actually very entertaining, even more with free tickets.

If a train leaves Boston heading East at 80 mph and another leaves Los Angeles heading west at 80 kph, what time will they arrive in Denver?
                We are so fucked.

Thanks, I've been reading up on it and watching some youtube's..it looks good. We're having a girls (sisters and cousins) family meet-up in LV in June and the non-gamblers want to take in a show. My daughters and I want to see Jersey Boys while the others are going to The Beatles LOVE by Cirque du Soleil. I love the Beatles, just not wild about that timeline in their music.

                    Btw, welcome!

I might enjoy either of the two shows you mention. Both sound great. I don't plan on standing in line for Britney tickets.
The good thing about Las Vegas is that there is plenty of things for non gamblers to do, some people do not fully grasp that. I've actually been to the city several times and not gambled at all, and I like to gamble and tend to be fairly good at it. Of course fairly good means that I have not had to take out a reverse mortgage on the home or file BK....

                      Thanks for the welcome!

                        Long time, no see!

The big question here isn't your shorts, it's your pants - we know where your shorts are.

My profile picture was taken at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, a few minutes from my home.

The picture is of the largest remaining oasis in the Mojave Desert. I was shocked the first time I stumbled on to it as I thought the only oasis I would ever see was in old Bugs Bunny reruns.

No GPS or cell phone service. It's a great place to hang out for the day.

A recognized wetland of international importance, Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge is one of the first in the United States designated a Ramsar site. Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge was named after the galleries of ash trees described in expedition notes from 1893. This desert oasis, a very rare and unique ecosystem, is recovering and playing an important role in global conservation efforts. The refuge strives to promote conservation management and awareness through environmental education, outreach programs, volunteerism, and visitor services programs.

If you like that era's music, then you'll love "Jersey Boys." Even if you're not that big of a fan of that music, it's still chart-toppers from the era that everyone enjoys at least a little.

A note about Las Vegas take-offs from Broadway: the show itself is "clipped;" a significant amount of the original production is taken out so that the show lasts about an hour as opposed to the typical ninety to 105 minutes. That is so that they can turn over the theatre more times per night. You won't get the same show that you would get in New York. That's not to say that it won't be very entertaining: these people practically invented entertainment, and to the average viewer, there is no disconnect. It's highly unlikely that you'll be able to spot what is "missing." But if you go there thinking that you're going to get the same thing as you would in New York, particularly if you're really familiar with the show, you might come away a little disappointed.

                              Just fair warning.
It's been ten years since that lonely day I left you
In the morning rain, smoking gun in hand
Ten lonely years but how my heart, it still remembers
Pray for me, momma, I'm a gypsy now
